Delete Growl to the Trash<\/h3>\n<p>First of all, make sure to log into your Mac with an administrator account, or you will be asked for a password when you try to delete something.<\/p>\n<h4>Option 1:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Head to the <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Applications<\/span> folder in the <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Finder<\/span>, click on the Growl icon, and then drag it to the <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Trash<\/span> on the dock. Remove Growl Vestiges in Disk<\/h3>\n<p>Though Growl has been deleted to the Trash, its lingering files, logs, caches and other miscellaneous contents may be stored stored around the OS X file system. You still need to manually wipe off all the traces associated with this app.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open the Finder, go to the <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Menu Bar<\/span>, open the \u201c<span style=\"color: #008000;\">Go<\/span>\u201d menu, select the entry:<span style=\"color: #008000;\">|Go to Folder&#8230;<\/span> and then enter the path of the Application Support folder: <span style=\"color: #008000;\">~\/Library<\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-90 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/macremover.com\/uninstallguides\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/09-enter-library.png\" alt=\"09 enter ~library\" width=\"600\" height=\"174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/macremover.com\/uninstallguides\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/09-enter-library.png 428w, https:\/\/macremover.com\/uninstallguides\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/09-enter-library-300x87.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Search for any files or folders with the name of application or its vendor in the<span style=\"color: #008000;\"> ~\/Library\/Preferences\/, ~\/Library\/Application Support\/<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> and<\/span> ~\/Library\/Caches\/<\/span> folders. Right click on those items and click <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Move to Trash<\/span> to delete them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-91 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/macremover.com\/uninstallguides\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/11-search-and-delete-leftovers.png\" alt=\"11 search and delete leftovers\" width=\"600\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/macremover.com\/uninstallguides\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/11-search-and-delete-leftovers.png 798w, https:\/\/macremover.com\/uninstallguides\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/11-search-and-delete-leftovers-300x215.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Meanwhile, search the following locations to identify and delete associated items:<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\">\/Library\/Preferences\/, \/Library\/Application Support\/<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> and<\/span> \/Library\/Caches\/.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Besides, there may be some kernel extensions or hidden files that are not obvious to identify. In that case, you can do a Google search about the components for Growl.<\/p>\n<p>Usually kernel extensions are located in<span style=\"color: #008000;\"> \/System\/Library\/Extensions<\/span> and end with the extension<span style=\"color: #008000;\"> .kext<\/span>. Search for the items with the name of target app or its vendor in this folder. As a precaution act, you can make a copy of the matched item before moving them to the Trash, and then reboot you Mac to make sure nothing wrong happens.<\/p>\n<p>Hidden files are mostly located in your home folder and by default they don not display in Finder. You can use the<span style=\"color: #008000;\"> Terminal<\/span> (inside <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Applications\/Utilities<\/span>) to list the contents of the directory in question and delete the offending items.<\/p>\n<h3>4. Empty the Trash to delete Growl Forever<\/h3>\n<p>If you are determined to <em>uninstall Growl<\/em> permanently, the last thing you need to do is emptying the Trash.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To completely empty your trash can, you can right click on the Trash on the dock and choose <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Empty Trash<\/span>, or simply choose <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Empty Trash<\/span> under the <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Finder<\/span> menu.<\/li>\n<li>In case you cannot empty the Trash, reboot your Mac and do it again.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-92 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/macremover.com\/uninstallguides\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/13-empty-trash.png\" alt=\"13 empty trash\" width=\"600\" height=\"368\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Notice<\/strong>: you can not undo the act of emptying trashcan, so make sure that you haven&#8217;t mistakenly deleted anything before performing this step. After performing these steps you should have successfully remove Growl and its associated files from your Mac.
